Privacy Statement
I collect personal information from my clients in the course of doing business. I am committed to the protection of your personal information and have completed the online training found on the Privacy Commissioner’s website: www.privcom.gc.ca. This document answers some of your most frequently asked questions, and lets you know exactly how I’m protecting the information you entrust to me.
What personal information do you collect about me?
I collect the following information about you:
- Name
- Address
- Postal code
- Phone number
- Email address
- Gender
- Comments, opinions, personal and employment history and other information relayed during the normal course of email interactions
- Credit card information
- Age (range only)
- Household income (range only)
- Purchase history
- Product/service preferences
- Customer satisfaction information
- Opinions about products and services
The main reasons I collect personal information from you are:
- To complete a transaction with you (payment for services)
- Customer relationship management (have your contact information on file for ongoing counselling support)
I also use your personal information for other, secondary reasons including:
Marketing and Customer Service
In order to understand your preferences I may ask you for feedback about your experience using my services.
When you provide me with personal information to complete a transaction, I assume your consent to my collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.
If I ask you for personal information for a secondary reason like marketing, I will either ask you directly for your consent or provide you with an opportunity to say no. Saying no is called “opting out”. By opting out, you can tell me not to collect the information and/or not to share with other companies (in my case my administrative sub-contractor).
How do I opt out?
When you fill out a customer satisfaction survey, or opinion poll, you provide me with information about your preferences and opinions. At the bottom of the survey, there are boxes you can check off if you do not want that information to be used for marketing purposes.
How do I get more information?
I would be happy to answer any questions you may have about your personal information. If you would like more information about my policies or you would like to see exactly what personal information I have about you in my records, or if you wish to register a complaint, please contact me.
